Third Sunday of Advent

Also Read: Mass Readings for 14 December 2025

First Reading: Isaiah 35: 1-6a, 10

Strengthen the weak hands and make firm the feeble knees. Say to those who are of a fearful heart, “Be strong, do not fear! Here is your God. He will come with vengeance, with terrible recompense. He will come and save you.” (3-4)

In these days of Awaiting, the Prophet Isaiah reminds us that we must not fear but be strong. We await the coming of the Lord at Christmas as well as HIS second coming! In all our ways, let us fortify our hearts and minds. Let us remember that the Lord’s vengeance is the ultimate! Let us walk in the joy of the Lord!

Amen, Alleluia!

Responsorial Psalm: Psalms 146: 6-10

The Lord sets the prisoners free; the Lord opens the eyes of the blind. The Lord lifts those who are bowed down; the Lord loves the righteous. The Lord watches over the strangers; he upholds the orphan and the widow, but the way of the wicked he brings to ruin. (8:9)

Amen, Alleluia!

Second Reading: James 5: 7-10

Beloved, do not grumble against one another, so that you may not be judged. See, the Judge is standing at the doors! (9)

St. James entreats us not to grumble and judge each other! He warns us that the Judge is at the door. Therefore, let us leave the judging to the judge! The judge who watches over us, knows whatever we may be going through. Let us wait for the justice of the Lord!

In Jesus’ name, Amen!

Alleluia: Isaiah 61: 1

Alleluia, Alleluia!

The spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has anointed me; he has sent me to bring good news to the oppressed, to bind up the broken-hearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and release the prisoners.

Alleluia!

Gospel: Matthew 11: 2-11

What then did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I tell you, and more than a prophet. (9)

The signs that Jesus had worked were enough proof of him being the Messiah, yet HE doesn’t mind their questions! After St. John the Baptist’s disciples leave with their answers whether he is the Messiah, Christ Jesus quells the murmur among the people about St. John. Jesus praises and defends his cousin!

Today, we are the blessed ones to have baptism in Jesus Christ. Our Baptism can come only after we repent. Therefore, we must repent with all our hearts and renew our relationship with the Lord, this Advent. So that we can welcome him in our clean hearts! We ask for God’s grace to cleanse us. May the Holy Spirit Lord guide us to repent, renew, and reconcile ourselves to God in this holy and powerful season. We ask this through the intercession of St. John the Baptist and Mother Mary, Amen!
