Weekly Prayers for the Season of Advent

Advent is a time of joyful preparation for the coming of our Savior, Jesus Christ.
During these four weeks, we prepare our hearts through prayer, reflection, and hope.
Each week of Advent centers on a special theme — hope, peace, joy, and love — leading us closer to the light of Christmas.
These prayers will help you journey through this holy season with faith and devotion.

First Week of Advent – Prayer for Hope

Heavenly Father,
as we light the first candle of Advent, we remember the gift of hope You bring into our lives.
May Your light shine in our hearts and dispel the darkness of fear and doubt.
Help us to place our trust in You and to wait patiently for the coming of our Savior.
Through Christ our Lord.
Amen.

Second Week of Advent – Prayer for Peace

Lord Jesus Christ,
Prince of Peace, come into our world and still the storms of our hearts.
As we light the second candle of Advent, grant us the peace that only You can give.
Make us instruments of Your peace in our homes, our communities, and our world.
May Your peace reign in our hearts always.
Amen.

Third Week of Advent – Prayer for Joy

Loving God,
as we light the rose candle of joy, our hearts rejoice in the nearness of Your coming.
Fill us with gratitude and gladness, even amid the challenges of life.
May we find joy in serving others and in sharing Your love with all we meet.
Through Jesus Christ, our Lord.
Amen.

Fourth Week of Advent – Prayer for Love

God of Love,
as we light the final candle of Advent, we remember Your greatest gift — Your Son, Jesus Christ.
Fill our hearts with Your divine love and teach us to love as You love.
May we welcome Christ with open hearts and share His love with the world.
Through Christ our Lord.
Amen.

Closing Prayer for Advent

O Lord our God,
as Advent draws to a close and Christmas approaches,
prepare our hearts to welcome Your Son with faith, hope, peace, joy, and love.
Let Your light shine within us and through us,
so that the world may know the saving power of Christ.
Come, Lord Jesus!
Amen.
