  1. The Gospel very clearly displays, people in the inebriated state may do what Herod did. The drunkenness of Herod to power, position, vices and crimes, takes away his conscience and his inner voice that told him that he had committed a grave sin by marrying his brother’s wife Herodias. Though he was deeply troubled by the words of John the Baptist, being lost his conscience (inner voice) he gave into the evil plan of Herodias. John’s words were like spears warning him about the sin he has committed. Herodias was furious, because John was blocking her evil plans. She cleverly utilized the occasion to both please Herod and to eliminate John the Baptist.
The word of God is like fine double-edged sword which cuts finely. The Word of God is both light and life if we hear and live upon it.

  2. “Sir, I am not worthy to have you under my roof; just give the word and my servant will be cured.” Before we receive the Holy Eucharist we say this prayer, when the priests raises the Body and Blood (Bread and Wine) and says< “Behold the Lamb of God, who takes away the sins of the world, happy are we who are invited to the Supper of the Lord.” We respond to this. Three things are involved in this.
1.The priest exposes the transubstantiated-bread and wine into body and blood of Jesus Christ. The change of the whole substance of bread into the substance of the Body of Christ and of the whole substance of wine into the substance of the Blood of Christ.
2.Secondly we accepted our humble condition and accept that we are sinners and with contrite heart we prepare to receive the Body and Blood of Christ in the form of Holy Eucharist.
3.This is also a transformation that takes place in our heart at the reception of Eucharist which makes us the rightful children of God and become worthy of our Heavenly above. We become part of the Eucharist Lord, because his body has come to our mortal body and become enshrined in us.
If wo we must be holy in word, deed and in our thoughts. Let God bless all.
