Sunday Reflection – 09 October 2022

TWENTY-EIGHTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME

Also Read: Mass Readings for 09 October 2022 Homily for 09 October 2022 – Sunday

First Reading: Second Kings 5: 14-17

“Now I know that there is no God in all the earth except in Israel; please accept a present from your servant.” (v15)

Let us believe not only because we see the signs and wonders, but also because we know that God Lord Almighty is Lord over all.

Amen!

Responsorial Psalm: Psalms 98: 1-4

1 O sing to the Lord a new song, for he has done marvelous things. His right hand and his holy arm have gotten him victory. 2 The Lord has made known his victory; he has revealed his vindication in the sight of the nations.

We must remember to praise God during the stormy situations, we may face. It is then that he gives our hearts a song to sing. In His Light, the clouds disappear! Amen!

Second Reading: Second Timothy 2: 8-13

9 for which I suffer hardship, even to the point of being chained like a criminal. But the word of God is not chained. 10 Therefore I endure everything for the sake of the elect, so that they may also obtain the salvation that is in Christ Jesus, with eternal glory.

St. Paul endured hardships for the sake of the word of God. We today have received God’s word without any of the trials St. Paul or any of the saints have faced. Let us remember this fact and glorify God for his mercy on us.

13 If we are faithless, he remains faithful—for he cannot deny himself.

Even when we forget God, He neither forgets nor abandons us. We need to return with a humbled and contrite spirit to Our Father in Heaven. He dwells among us through His Holy Spirit. (John 14:26 and 16:13-14)

We must bend our stubborn hearts to listen to His word. Amen!

Gospel: Luke 17: 11-19

14 When he saw them, he said to them, “Go and show yourselves to the priests.” And as they went, they were made clean.

Sometimes, God may not suddenly perform an astounding miracle! He may tell us to follow the same routine, but this time we have to perform the same chores with faith! In the process, we can be sure of great and mighty healing. -A healing from a sore, cold heart, weakened spirit, mind, and soul. Lord, let your Holy Spirit of fire cleanse our wounded spirits and renew our minds, soul, and body. (Rom. 12:2)

Regular reading of the Word of God, living continually in His presence, and praising Him all day is a sure way to see His work among us. Praying in tongues helps us to live in his presence continually, even when we are completing our daily tasks. In Jesus’ Name. Amen!
