Twenty-Seventh Sunday in Ordinary Time

Also Read: Mass Readings for 05 October 2025

First Reading: Habakkuk 1: 2-3; 2: 2-4

The Prophet’s Complaint

Then the Lord answered me and said: Write the vision; make it plain on tablets, so that a runner may read it. For there is still a vision for the appointed time; it speaks of the end and does not lie. If it seems to tarry, wait for it; it will surely come, it will not delay. (2-4)

The prophet says that he sees destruction before him and pleads with the Lord for help. The Lord answers him and promises a vision at the appointed time. When we are faced with a trial, we must not be disheartened. The Lord has promised us salvation. In Jesus name, Amen!

Responsorial Psalm: Psalms 95: 1-2, 6-9

O come, let us sing to the Lord; let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation! Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving; let us make a joyful noise to him with songs of praise!

Alleluia!

Second Reading: Second Timothy 1: 6-8, 13-14

God did not give us a spirit of cowardice, but rather a spirit of power and of love and of self-discipline. (7)

St. Paul tells us to hold on to the sound teaching and rely on the Holy Spirit who is in us. He encourages us on our faith journey. Let us repeat this scripture and read the psalms aloud. Every word from the bible is a shield for anyone who wants to remain a true disciple of the Lord Jesus Christ.

In Jesus’ name, Amen!

Alleluia: First Peter 1: 25

Alleluia, Alleluia! The word of the Lord endures forever, that word is the good news that was announced to you. Alleluia!

Gospel: Luke 17: 5-10

“When you have done all that you were ordered to do, say, ‘We are worthless slaves; we have done only what we ought to have done!’” (10)

Lord Jesus Christ responds to the apostles when they ask him to increase their faith! It seems that the Lord is telling them that faith can be increased when it is actively exercised. Like our regular gym practice, let us also stick to regular hymn practice! Let us seek opportunities to sing praises to our God throughout our day. Even as we fulfill our responsibilities, let us persevere in doing what is right, in seeking to alleviate the suffering of the needy and thanking the Lord in anticipation for his blessings!

We thank the Lord for granting us his discipleship. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
