Also Read: Mass Readings for 25 December 2025 – Vigil Mass
First Reading: Isaiah 62: 1-5
For a CHILD IS BORN to us, and a son is given to us, and the government is upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called, Wonderful, Counsellor, God the Mighty, the Father of the world to come, the Prince of Peace.
His empire shall be multiplied, and there shall be no end of peace: he shall sit upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom; to establish it and strengthen it with judgment and with justice, from henceforth and forever: the zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this. (5-6)
We gaze upon the baby Lord, born this night: an immigrant/ refugee child, outside in the cold, to two devout people! We shudder to think of the immense humility the Wonderful, Counsellor, God the Mighty, the Father of the world to come, the Prince of Peace bore — all this for the sake of his chosen people!
We are reminded that his government is in our hearts, until his kingdom comes in all its glory! Alleluia, Amen!
Responsorial Psalm: Psalms 89: 4-5, 16-17, 27, 29
And I will appoint him to be my firstborn, the most exalted of the kings of the earth. (27)
God was born for us this day!
Alleluia, Amen
Second Reading: Acts 13: 16-17, 22-25
“From this man’s descendants God has brought to Israel the Savior Jesus, as he promised. Before the coming of Jesus, John preached repentance and baptism to all the people of Israel. (23-25)
Just as John the Baptist went ahead of the Lord Christ, the apostles bear the torch of Christ Jesus’ Gospel to all nations. In the reading today, St. Paul, a Pharisee, recognizes Jesus’ birth from the Jewish scriptures.
We praise God and marvel at His plan of salvation.
In Jesus’ name, Amen!
Gospel: Matthew 1: 1-25
All the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations; and from David to the deportation to Babylon, fourteen generations; and from the deportation to Babylon to the Messiah, fourteen generations. (17)
She will bear a son, and you are to name him Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.” All this took place to fulfill what had been spoken by the Lord through the prophet: “Look, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall name him Emmanuel,” which means, “God is with us.” (21-23)
We rejoice at the amazing birth of God on Earth today! We praise and thank God for the same. Let us bear his light to those around us. Amen, Alleluia!
Let us nurture the Baby Jesus born in our hearts today! Merry Christmas, Everyone!
