Today the Church stands in silence before the Cross. There is no Mass. No consecration. The altar is bare. We remember the suffering and death of our Lord Jesus Christ.
This is the day Love was crucified.
Bible Verse of the Day
“Jesus said, “It is finished.” And bowing his head, he handed over the spirit.” – John 19:30
A Prayer at the Foot of the Cross
Lord Jesus,
Today I stand at the foot of Your Cross. The sky grows dark. The earth trembles. The weight of sin presses upon You, yet You remain silent in love.
You were mocked, scourged, crowned with thorns, and nailed to wood. You bore wounds that I deserved. You carried a Cross that was mine.
When You cried, “It is finished,” You completed the work of redemption. You poured out every drop of mercy. You held nothing back.
How often I take Your sacrifice lightly. Forgive my indifference. Forgive my forgetfulness. Let this day awaken true gratitude within me.
Teach me to gaze upon the Cross with reverence. Let me see in it not only suffering, but love. Not defeat, but victory.
As I kneel in silence today, unite my own sufferings with Yours. Let my trials become offerings. Let my life reflect the self-giving love You demonstrated.
I thank You for the Cross. I thank You for salvation. I thank You for loving me to the end.
Through Christ our crucified Lord.
Amen.
