As we continue our Lenten journey, the Church reminds us that discipleship requires commitment. Lent is not simply about sacrifice. It is about following Christ more faithfully. To follow Him means embracing both the joy and the cost of being His disciple.
Today we reflect on what it truly means to take up our cross daily and walk in His footsteps.
Bible Verse of the Day
“If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, take up his cross daily, and follow Me.” – Luke 9:23
A Prayer of Surrender
Lord Jesus Christ,
You invite me to follow You, not only when the road is smooth, but when it leads through sacrifice. You carried the Cross out of love for me. Yet so often, I hesitate to carry even the smallest cross in my own life.
Forgive me for seeking comfort over obedience. Forgive me for clinging to my own will instead of trusting Yours. I confess that I struggle with surrender. I want to control my path. I want to choose the easier way.
Teach me the beauty of self-denial. Help me to understand that every sacrifice offered in love draws me closer to You. When I face difficulties, give me patience. When I am misunderstood, give me gentleness. When I am tempted to complain, give me gratitude.
Lord, I surrender my plans, my expectations, and my fears into Your hands. Shape my desires according to Your will. Let my heart be united with Yours.
May this Lent be a time of true discipleship. May I follow You not only in words, but in daily choices. And may every cross I carry lead me closer to the joy of Your Resurrection.
Amen.
Reflection
The cross we carry may not always be visible, but God sees every hidden sacrifice.
- What is the Lord asking you to surrender today?
- Are you resisting something He is inviting you to accept?
Surrender is not weakness. It is trust.
Today’s Lenten Resolution
- Accept one difficulty today without complaint.
- Offer it silently for someone in need.
- Ask Jesus for the grace to carry your cross with love.
A Short Prayer for Today
Lord Jesus,
You call me to take up my cross and follow You.
Give me courage to surrender my will to Yours.
When the path is difficult, strengthen me.
When I am tempted to complain, teach me patience.
Help me to embrace sacrifice with love,
knowing that every cross carried with You
leads to resurrection.
Amen.
