Friday during Lent turns our hearts toward repentance and the Cross. The Church calls us to humility and sincere conversion. True repentance is not rooted in fear, but in love. We turn back to God because we know He is merciful.
Today we ask for a humble and contrite heart.
Bible Verse of the Day
“A humble and contrite heart, O God, You will not despise.” – Psalm 51:17
A Prayer of Humility
Merciful Father,
I come before You aware of my sins and shortcomings. Nothing in my life is hidden from You. You see my thoughts, my motives, and the weaknesses I try to ignore.
I confess that pride often blinds me. I justify my faults. I compare myself to others. I forget how deeply I depend on Your mercy. Forgive me, Lord.
Give me the grace of true humility. Help me to acknowledge my sins honestly and seek reconciliation with courage. Remove any hardness of heart that prevents me from repentance.
Create in me a clean heart, O God. Renew a steadfast spirit within me. Teach me to rely not on my own strength, but on Your grace. May I never take lightly the sacrifice of Christ on the Cross.
As I reflect on Your mercy today, let gratitude fill my soul. Let repentance bring peace. And let humility open my heart to deeper transformation.
Through Christ our Lord.
Amen.
