Sunday Reflection – 13 November 2022

THIRTY-THIRD SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME

Also Read: Mass Readings for 13 November 2022 Homily for 13 November 2022 – Sunday

First Reading: Malachi 4: 1-2a

The Sun of Truth

But for you who revere my name the sun of righteousness shall rise, with healing in its wings. You shall go out leaping like calves from the stall. (2)

The Lord’s Day will be ever so glorious and unimaginably bright. On that day truth will be the sun. The risen sun will bring with it the healing that each one needs. Hence, one day of the Lord will be more victorious and greater than a thousand days of the wicked and all HIS people will rejoice. That day is soon approaching. Therefore we must stand firm and put on the whole armor of GOD. (Eph. 6:10-20)

In Jesus’ Name, Amen!

Responsorial Psalm: Psalms 98: 5-9

The Day of Light

Let the sea roar, and all that fills it; the world and those who live in it. Let the floods clap their hands; let the hills sing together for joy at the presence of the Lord, for he is coming to judge the earth. He will judge the world with righteousness, and the peoples with equity. (7-9)

This is a visualization of the Day of the Lord. How awesome it is to see the floods clap their hands and hear the hills sing together. Listen to the sound of victory, in Jesus’ Name, Amen!

Second Reading: Second Thessalonians 3: 7-12

The Life in Christ

Now such persons we command and exhort in the Lord Jesus Christ to do their work quietly and to earn their own living. (12)

This passage is addressed to the spiritually idle, busybodies of today. (11) We must endeavor to serve the Lord in humility. Also, we “must earn our own living!” The Holy Spirit will guide us in our service. In Jesus’ Name, Amen!

Gospel: Luke 21: 5-19

The Sound of Victory

So make up your minds not to prepare your defense in advance; for I will give you words and a wisdom that none of your opponents will be able to withstand or contradict. (14-15)

Christ Jesus is warning us about the end times here. It seems like we are living in these times right now. HE is most likely to return in our lifetime. All the horrifying events described by Jesus seem to be occurring. But we are also encouraged by Christ our Lord that we will be supported in our walk. No one will need to prepare their own defense in advance. Christ has poured out HIS Holy Spirit on us and through HIM we will know all things at the right time. (John 15:26, 16:13)

In this physical world filled with hatred, we are blessed with the beatific vision of love during the Holy Mass. We can see Our Lord Jesus reigning over the whole world. We must stay firm in our faith, our rock is our redeemer because in JESUS we Believe. We will never be fearful of any uncertainties because we know who holds our tomorrow.

In JESUS’ name, Amen!
