Sunday Reflection – 27 June 2021

THIRTEENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME

Also Read: Mass Readings for 27 June 2021

First Reading: Wisdom 1: 13-15; 2: 23-24

A seed of Faith and a pinch of courage

God did not make death! He created us for incorruption! Isn’t this fact both life-changing and mindboggling, at once? (13- 15)

Death entered the world through the envy of the devil! (24) The devil had free will too, just like all creatures! But he chose to rebel against God! Why? Because of his own pride and envy! He was envious of God and subsequently he is envious of us, human beings! The root of all evil is envy! And because he is envious of us, he will throw stumbling blocks in our way when we just want to read the word of God! Just because we must not get a hold of this wonderful insight, straight from God’s word!

Now that we know, we must ascertain who’s company we belong to!

Here, the question begs to be asked: “Just because we can, should we?” Just because we can live ruthlessly, should we? Seed of Faith and a pinch of courage is all that we need!

Responsorial Psalm: Psalms 30: 2, 4, 5-6, 11, 12, 13

Praise God, forever!

Ps. 30:12 “So that my soul may praise you and not be silent. O Lord my God, I will give thanks to you forever.”

We were created to praise God forever! May we not miss our opportunity, by our own foolishness!

Second Reading: Second Corinthians 8: 7, 9, 13-15

Abundance and Need!

2Cor 8:14 “(a fair balance between) Your present abundance and their need, so that their abundance may be for your need. In order that there may be a fair balance.”

Are we blessed with abundance in any area of our lives? Yes! We are surely blest, all we need is to retrain our focus and attune our wavelengths! Then, once we know this abundance in us; we are to use it for the benefit of the others around us! Only then will the abundance multiply and be fruitful!

So what is Paul speaking about here as “their abundance”? The abundance of a lacking (need) in a certain area! Eg: Are you a patient person? Well, then your patience (your abundance) is the need of the other! What is your need then?  – A need to be purified and polished! Therefore, your need is being met by the other!

May we find the abundance and nourish the needs of ourselves and the others around us!

Help Us, O Mother of Perpetual Succour! Amen!

Gospel: Mark 5: 21-43

“Talithacum!”

We might be suffering for years with a hemorrhage of the heart or soul or spirit! We are encouraged today to approach the Lord anyhow, somehow! -Because we Believe in Him! Even though, we might be ashamed or afraid to approach him upfront! Even with a crowd jostling us about, we can still reach out to the fringes of his cloak. He will heal us! We are to then show courage in coming forward to him in public view and acclaim our healing. Our permanent healing is then confirmed then by the Lord!

Amen!
