Sunday Reflection – 28 February 2021

SECOND SUNDAY OF LENT

Also Read: Mass Readings for 28 Feb 2021

First Reading: Genesis 22: 1-2, 9a, 10-13, 15-18

The Faith!

“And by your offspring shall all the nations of the earth gain blessing for themselves, because you have  obeyed my voice.” (v.18)

Abraham showed his great faith in offering his son Issac! But GOD saved him and restored and blessed him! Even as we ponder on this amazing passage, we wonder whether Abraham would have even uttered a slightest of murmur; after all, this was an extremely tough command of the LORD! The very fact that GOD so profusely blessed him and his generations after him stand witness to his undeniable and unwavering faith in GOD’S Command! Would we have stood this test?

It is in the obedience of one man (Abraham) that GOD blesses all nations to come. May we hear GOD’S voice and always turn our steps to his will. Amen!

Responsorial Psalm: Psalms 116: 10, 15, 16-17, 18-19

Doing what Faith commands me!

I kept my faith, even when I said, “I am greatly afflicted.” (v.10)

Like Father Abraham, may we stay strong in our faith through the very midst of afflictions, temptations, and trials! Amen!

Second Reading: Romans 8: 31b-34

GOD is With Us!

“If GOD be for us, who can be against us.” (v. 31)

GOD gave us his own Son and along with HIM everything else! All that we need to stand firm in our faith towards the Highest GOD, we have received it. We must claim the blessings! As we praise HIM in our storms, HE continues to give us the graces we seek! Amen!

Gospel: Mark 9: 2-10

The SON Shining!

“This is my son, the beloved, listen to him!” (v.7) As Christ interacts with the heavenly beings, HE is naturally revealed in his true light! -A splendor witnessed by his closest ones! The scriptures report of other times, Christ goes by himself to pray in silence! Would there have been similar occurrences then? – I would rather think so! It so happens that on this occasion; the three Peter, James, and John are able to witness this sight! How blessed they would have felt! Though they were terrified, they would have experienced the Glory of GOD that night!

Upon our own encounter with GOD, what would we have done? Would we be able to come down that mountain easily, knowing what lies ahead might be difficult? I for one would have replicated Peter’s request for sure! In the presence of the Blessed Sacrament during Holy Communion or Adoration, we are offered this glimpse of heaven every day! Do we allow our eyes to See? -To do so, we need our hearts to be clear! Christ is Transfigured Daily before our eyes, May we See this phenomenon!

And then when in any dilemma, go up the LORD’S mountain and speak with the Law and Prophets. For this, we need to seek the scriptures for True Wisdom, Guidance, Strength, and Courage. Worship the LORD in Spirit and in Truth!

Thank You LORD, Praise GOD!
