Epiphany of the Lord Solemnity
Also Read: Mass Readings for 04 January 2026
First Reading: Isaiah 60: 1-6
A multitude of camels shall cover you, the young camels of Midian and Ephah; all those from Sheba shall come. They shall bring gold and frankincense and shall proclaim the praise of the Lord. (6)
On the Epiphany of the Lord, we see that the kings of the world come to adore the newborn baby King of the Universe. We bend our knees and bow our heads in adoration along with the kings who recognized the Lord in human form! We ask the Lord to grant us the grace to offer to the Lord, our finest and best in worship and in work, in word and in deed. In whatever we may do or say, let us offer to him what would be fit for a king.
Glory to the Infant King, Alleluia. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
Responsorial Psalm: Psalms 72: 1-2, 7-8, 10-13
May all kings fall down before him, all nations give him service. For he delivers the needy when they call, the poor and those who have no helper. He has pity on the weak and the needy and saves the lives of the needy. (12-13)
We praise the King who saves the needy, Alleluia, Amen!
Second Reading: Ephesians 3: 2-3a, 5-6
In former generations, this mystery was not made known to humankind, as it has now been revealed to his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit: that is, the Gentiles have become fellow heirs, members of the same body, and sharers in the promise in Christ Jesus through the gospel. (5,6)
St. Paul reminds us of the mystery that God has proclaimed to us through HIS Son Jesus Christ. Through the Holy Spirit, we have been grafted into the same body and promise in Jesus Christ.
We praise and thank the Lord, Amen, Alleluia!
Alleluia: Matthew 2: 2
Alleluia, Alleluia!
“Where is the child who has been born king of the Jews? For we observed his star at its rising and have come to pay him homage.”
Alleluia!
Gospel: Matthew 2: 1-12
The Great Epiphany!
When they saw that the star had stopped, they were overwhelmed with joy. On entering the house, they saw the child with Mary, his mother, and they knelt down and paid him homage. Then, opening their treasure chests, they offered him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh. And having been warned in a dream not to return to Herod, they left for their own country by another road. (10-12)
Have we encountered our Epiphany? Which is the star that we are following? Who has pointed out that star to us? When the star stops at a spot, will we be joyful? What gifts have we prepared to offer the One whom we adore?
Let us turn our gaze to the baby King in the manger and realign our compass. Let us seek out the Wise One, so that He may point out the perfect guiding star to us. Let us prepare our hearts like treasure chests of kindness, love, faith, and courage! Let us offer to our King our best!
Alleluia, Amen! In Jesus’ name, Amen! Alleluia!
