Also Read: Mass Readings for 11 January 2026
First Reading: Isaiah 42: 1-4, 6-7
He will not grow faint or be crushed until he has established justice in the earth; and the coastlands wait for his teaching. (4)
I am the Lord, I have called you in righteousness, I have taken you by the hand and kept you; I have given you as a covenant to the people, a light to the nations, to open the eyes that are blind, to bring out the prisoners from the dungeon, from the prison those who sit in darkness. (6,7)
The Baptism of the Lord reminds us that God sent his only son as a new covenant. Christ fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah to the Jewish people through his life, as he healed the sick and blind, and freed prisoners.
Today, we see the great light of Christ shine on us through the Bible. Our eyes are opened to see Christ in the New and the Old Testament. We are freed people, and we rejoice in the Lord Saviour, Jesus Christ our Lord! Amen, Alleluia!
Responsorial Psalm: Psalms 29: 1-4, 9-10
Ascribe to the Lord, O heavenly beings, ascribe to the Lord glory and strength. Ascribe to the Lord the glory of his name; worship the Lord in holy splendour. The voice of the Lord causes the oaks to whirl and strips the forest bare; and in his temple all say, “Glory!” (9)
Alleluia, Amen!
Second Reading: Acts 10: 34-38
That message spread throughout Judea, beginning in Galilee after the baptism that John announced: how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power; how he went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with him. (37-38)
St. Peter proclaims how JESUS was the Messiah, how he did GOD’S Will and fulfilled His Promise. We are greatly blessed because of what the Gospel preached to us.
We praise and thank God for this great privilege we share with our brethren in Christ Jesus, Amen.
Alleluia: Mark 9: 7
Then a cloud overshadowed them, and from the cloud there came a voice, “This is my Son, the Beloved; listen to him!” Alleluia!
Gospel: Matthew 3: 13-17
The Baptism of Jesus
But Jesus answered him, “Let it be so now; for it is proper for us in this way to fulfill all righteousness.” Then he consented. And when Jesus had been baptized, just as he came up from the water, suddenly the heavens were opened to him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting on him. And a voice from heaven said, “This is my Son, the Beloved, with whom I am well pleased.” (15-17)
We see Jesus’ baptism through John the Baptist. We praise and thank God for his great plan of salvation and its revelation to us.
Let us become hearers of His Word and also the Doers! Alleluia! Amen!
Happy Feast of the Lord’s Baptism!
