As the second week begins, the Lord calls us to mercy. We have received abundant forgiveness from God. Lent challenges us to extend that same mercy to others.
True spiritual growth is measured not only by prayer and fasting, but by compassion.

A Prayer for Mercy
Merciful Father,
You have shown me patience beyond measure. You forgive my sins repeatedly and welcome me back each time I return to You. Yet I struggle to extend that same mercy to others.
Forgive me for the times I have judged harshly. Forgive me for holding onto resentment. Soften my heart where it has become rigid.
Teach me to reflect Your compassion. Help me to forgive quickly and sincerely. Give me the grace to see others through the lens of Your mercy rather than through my own expectations.
When I am tempted to criticize, remind me of how much You have forgiven me. When I am hurt, give me the strength to forgive. May my mercy toward others be a reflection of Your mercy toward me.
Let this Lent deepen my compassion and purify my heart. Shape me into an instrument of reconciliation and peace.
Through Christ our Lord.
