Lenten Preparation – Day 16: Saturday of the Second Week of Lent

As we complete the second week of Lent, we are reminded that God delights in mercy. No matter how far we may have wandered, He is always ready to welcome us back. Like the loving father in the parable of the prodigal son, He runs toward us with compassion.

Today we place our trust in His mercy and return to Him with confidence.

Bible Verse of the Day

” Who is a God like you, who removes guilt and pardons sin for the remnant of his inheritance?” – Micah 7:18

A Prayer of Returning to God

Merciful Father,
There is no God like You. You are patient, compassionate, and rich in forgiveness. Even when I fall, You do not turn away from me. You call me back with tenderness.

I confess that I sometimes stray from Your path. I become distracted by worldly concerns and forget the joy of walking closely with You. Yet Your mercy is greater than my weakness.

Today I return to You with trust. Receive me with compassion. Cleanse me of my sins and renew my spirit. Restore the joy of my salvation.

Help me to believe fully in Your forgiveness. Remove any shame or doubt that prevents me from approaching You confidently. Let Your mercy heal what sin has wounded.

As this Lenten season continues, draw me ever closer to Your heart. May I never grow tired of returning to You, for You never grow tired of welcoming me home.

Through Christ our Lord.

Amen.
