Lenten Preparation – Third Sunday of Lent

On this Third Sunday of Lent, we are reminded of our deep spiritual thirst. Like the Samaritan woman at the well, we long for living water that truly satisfies. Christ alone offers the grace that quenches the thirst of the soul.

Today we ask for a deeper desire for God.

Bible Verse of the Day

“The water I shall give will never thirst; the water I shall give will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” – John 4:14

A Prayer for Deeper Desire for God

Lord Jesus,
You met the Samaritan woman at the well and offered her living water. You revealed her thirst and filled her with new hope. In the same way, You know the hidden thirst within my heart.

Too often I try to satisfy my soul with temporary pleasures and fleeting comforts. I search for fulfilment in success, approval, and material things. Yet none of these can truly satisfy.

Lord, awaken in me a deeper desire for You. Help me to recognize my spiritual thirst and bring it honestly before You. Fill me with the living water of Your grace.

When I feel empty, draw me closer to prayer. When I feel restless, remind me that only You can give lasting peace. Purify my desires and align them with Your will.

Let this Lenten journey increase my longing for Your presence. May I seek You daily and discover the joy of a heart refreshed by Your Spirit.

Through Christ our Lord.

Amen.

Reflection
