Lenten Preparation – Day 8: Thursday of the First Week of Lent

As we move deeper into the first week of Lent, the Lord teaches us about trust and perseverance in prayer. Lent invites us to knock, to seek, and to ask with confidence. God is not distant or indifferent. He listens with a Father’s heart.

Today we reflect on persistence in prayer and trust in God’s goodness.

“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.” – Matthew 7:7

A Prayer of Trustful Petition

Heavenly Father,
You invite me to ask, to seek, and to knock. Yet I confess that I sometimes grow discouraged in prayer. When answers seem delayed, my faith weakens. When doors appear closed, I question Your plan.

Teach me to trust in Your timing. Help me to believe that You hear every prayer, even when the answer is different from what I expect. Remove impatience from my heart and replace it with steady confidence in Your wisdom.

Lord, I bring before You my needs, my concerns, and the burdens I carry. You know them already, yet You ask me to present them with faith. Strengthen my trust that You will provide what is best for my soul.

When I feel spiritually distant, help me to persevere. When I feel unheard, remind me that You are always attentive. May my prayer this Lent become more persistent, more sincere, and more trusting.

Open the doors that lead me closer to You. Close the doors that lead me away from Your will. And give me peace in knowing that You are guiding every step.

Father,
You tell me to ask, seek, and knock.
Increase my trust when I grow impatient.

When answers are delayed, strengthen my faith.
Guide me according to Your will
and open the path that leads me closer to You.
