The Body and Blood of Christ Solemnity
Also Read: Mass Readings for 07 June 2026
First Reading: Deuteronomy 8: 2-3, 14b-16a
He humbled you by letting you hunger, then by feeding you with manna, with which neither you nor your ancestors were acquainted, in order to make you understand that one does not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord.
“…and in the end to do you good.” (16)
We are reminded about the Israelites’ struggle in the desert in the reading today! We must also remember that in our desert trials, we are being tested! We thank the Lord for letting us draw closer to him. We thank the Lord for providing us with a means to our salvation! We have the word of God in our hands, and we ought to revere it and read from it daily. The new manna in the desert is the word of God, and we must eat of it for our spiritual sustenance!
We ask the Lord to grant us the conviction, dedication, and courage to embed into our daily routines the contemplative reading of the Word of God. We could begin with just a few minutes per day and surely pray to the Holy Spirit to help us. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
Responsorial Psalm: Psalms 147: 12-15, 19-20
Praise the Lord, O Jerusalem! Praise your God, O Zion! For he strengthens the bars of your gates; he blesses your children within you. He grants peace within your borders; he fills you with the finest of wheat. He sends out his command to the earth; his word runs swiftly. (12-15)
Amen, Alleluia!
Second Reading: First Corinthians 10: 16-17
Because there is one bread, we who are many are one body, for we all partake of the one bread. (17)
Christ is the living bread that came down from heaven for us! (Jn 6:51) He gave us his flesh in the world to eat so that we may have life in us! In the Holy Eucharist, Christ gave us a Holy Communion when we partake of the Eucharistic meal. We become united in the body of Christ as we receive him in our body and soul. Therefore, in the One Bread we all have become one! Praise God, Alleluia, Amen!
Alleluia: John 6: 51
“I am the living bread that came down from heaven. Whoever eats of this bread will live forever; and the bread that I will give for the life of the world is my flesh.” Alleluia!
Gospel: John 6: 51-58
“Just as the living Father sent me, and I live because of the Father, so whoever eats me will live because of me.” (57)
Christ Jesus instituted the greatest sacrament by sharing his body and blood for us! We are blessed to be living in the New Covenant period! We find it in our faith to be able to grasp the wonder of God’s love through the Holy Eucharist! Unlike the early disciples, we now know how God humbled himself to be born in human form, then live and die for us, and gloriously rise and ascend to the Father! We are truly blessed! We need not be confounded, but we must believe in the works that the Lord God has shown us through Jesus Christ.
We praise God for the Holy Eucharist, a living memorial in our hearts of His Love for us! Alleluia!
Happy Feast of Corpus Christi! Alleluia, Amen!
