As Lent continues, the Lord reminds us that true greatness is found in service. The world teaches us to seek power and recognition, but Christ teaches us to become servants. In His Kingdom, the first are those who give themselves in love.
Today we ask for a servant’s heart.
Bible Verse of the Day
“The Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many.” – Matthew 20:28
A Prayer for a Servant’s Heart
Lord Jesus,
You are the King of kings, yet You chose the path of humility and service. You washed the feet of Your disciples. You gave Yourself completely for our salvation. Your life was a gift poured out in love.
I confess that I often seek comfort over sacrifice. I prefer recognition over hidden service. Forgive me for the times I have acted out of selfish ambition instead of charity.
Teach me to serve without counting the cost. Help me to notice the needs of others and respond generously. Give me patience when service feels unnoticed and strength when it feels demanding.
Remove from my heart the desire for praise. Replace it with a sincere longing to reflect Your love. Let my actions speak quietly of my faith.
During this Lenten journey, form within me a servant’s heart. May I follow Your example not only in words, but in daily acts of kindness and generosity.
Through Christ our Lord.
Amen.
