Fourteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time
Also Read: Mass Readings for 05 July 2026
First Reading: Zechariah 9: 9-10
Rejoice greatly, O daughter Zion! Shout aloud, O daughter Jerusalem! Lo, your king comes to you; triumphant and victorious is he, humble and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey. (9)
In the reading today, Prophet Zechariah foretells about Jesus’ coming. He also prophesies about the Lord’s Second coming — how the Lord will establish the Rule of Peace! When the Lord comes in glory, he will vanquish evil and establish a new heaven and a new earth! As promised in the Old and New Testaments, Isaiah 65:17, Isaiah 66: 22, 2 Peter 3:13, and as revealed to John in Revelation 21:1, “The New Heaven and the New Earth — Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth; for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more.” Jesus fulfilled this promise when he made a triumphal entry into Jerusalem. (Luke 19: 28-40 and Matt 21:1-10) We praise and thank God for sending us his only son to redeem us.
God reminds us daily about himself! He keeps proving himself to us daily! Our God is an awesome and yet humble God. We praise and thank him! Alleluia, Amen!
Responsorial Psalm: Psalms 145: 1-2, 8-11, 13-14
I will extol you, my God and King, and bless your name forever and ever. Every day I will bless you, and praise your name forever and ever. (1-2)
Amen, Alleluia!
Second Reading: Romans 8: 9, 11-13
Living by the Spirit!
If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will give life to your mortal bodies also through his Spirit that dwells in you. (11)
For if you live according to the flesh, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live. (13)
We live by the Spirit who raised Jesus! By that same Spirit, we can put to death the “deeds of the body” that lead us away from him who raises us up — higher, stronger, and better! Let us keep inviting the Holy Spirit into our daily lives. We then become aware of his presence in us, and we can allow his power to operate in our deeds, words, and thoughts! In Jesus’ name, Amen!
Alleluia: Matthew 11: 25
Alleluia! At that time, Jesus said, “I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and the intelligent and have revealed them to infants.
Alleluia, Alleluia!
Gospel: Matthew 11: 25-30
The Lord carries my yoke!
“Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” (28-30)
Today’s Gospel contains one of the most famous biblical antidotes to stress and worry. We may have read or heard it several times before, but rarely would we have let the words of Christ penetrate our weak or hurting inner recesses. Let us visit those painful alleys of our soul today and become aware of Christ’s arm on our shoulders. Let us hand over to him that burden we may have carried for years! Let us not be afraid in the presence of the Lord who loves us so dearly! He says in ISAIAH 41:10, “Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be afraid, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my victorious right hand.”
The Lord, my King, carries my yoke! Amen, Alleluia!
Happy Sunday, Everyone!
