Gospel: Luke 11: 1-13

It is vital to have friends who will not leave you no matter what. There are others who would gatecrash uninvited. If you don’t have friends of the former type, you will never be able to deal with the latter, who just wouldn’t care if you are prepared or not.

Accidents, ill health, financial crisis, loss of job, the sudden demise of dear ones, etc. are examples of the second type of friends. You just can’t say no to them. To survive such uninvited guests, we are in need of a solid friend. Jesus is that solid friend, on His shoulder we can lean, and He will make sure that we don’t fail.

Are you friends with Jesus? Are you close enough to Jesus to disturb Him in your emergency? Make Jesus your best friend. Be so friendly with Jesus so that you turn to Him when you have an emergency. You turn to Him in trouble, because it is your habit to hang around with Jesus daily.

If you hang around with Jesus in personal prayers, reading and meditating on the word of God daily, you have started to be friends with Jesus. No untimely visitor is going to unsettle you. Stay close to Jesus, and stay strong with Jesus.
