Blessed Kateri Tekakwitha, Virgin Obligatory Memorial
Responsorial Psalm: Psalms 103: 1b-2, 3-4, 6-7
Alleluia: Matthew 11: 25
Gospel: Matthew 11: 25-27
First Reading: Exodus 3: 1-6, 9-12
1 Now Moses fed the sheep of Jethro his father in law, the priest of Madian: and he drove the flock to the inner parts of the desert, and came to the mountain of God, Horeb.
2 And the Lord appeared to him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush: and he saw that the bush was on fire and was not burnt.
3 And Moses said: I will go and see this great sight, why the bush is not burnt.
4 And when the Lord saw that he went forward to see, he called to him out of the midst of the bush, and said: Moses, Moses. And he answered: Here I am.
5 And he said: Come not nigh hither, put off the shoes from thy feet: for the place whereon thou standest is holy ground.
6 And he said: I am the God of thy father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. Moses hid his face: for he durst not look at God.
9 For the cry of the children of Israel is come unto me: and I have seen their affliction, wherewith they are oppressed by the Egyptians.
10 But come, and I will send thee to Pharao, that thou mayst bring forth my people, the children of Israel out of Egypt.
11 And Moses said to God: Who am I that I should go to Pharao, and should bring forth the children of Israel out of Egypt?
12 And he said to him: I will be with thee: and this thou shalt have for a sign, that I have sent thee: When thou shalt have brought my people out of Egypt, thou shalt offer sacrifice to God upon this mountain.

Gospel: Matthew 11: 25-27
25 At that time Jesus answered and said: I confess to thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them to the little ones.
26 Yea, Father; for so hath it seemed good in thy sight.
27 All things are delivered to me by my Father. And no one knoweth the Son, but the Father: neither doth any one know the Father, but the Son, and he to whom it shall please the Son to reveal him.
Reflection
God reveals himself to those who are willing to receive him with humility. Moses approaches the burning bush with wonder, then removes his sandals before the holiness of God. He does not feel capable of the task placed before him, yet God does not answer his hesitation by praising his strength. He gives Moses a promise: “I will be with thee.” The mission will rest on God’s presence, not on Moses’ confidence.
Jesus likewise praises the Father for revealing the mysteries of the Kingdom to the little ones. To know God is not a possession gained through cleverness or status; it is a gift received by a receptive heart. The same Lord who sees the affliction of Israel, forgives, heals, and redeems also draws near to reveal his mercy and send his servants. We may come before him with our limitations, provided we come honestly and reverently. The practical question is simple: am I trying to approach God on my own terms, or am I willing to become quiet, attentive, and obedient? In humble hearts, God’s revelation becomes both consolation and a call to serve.
Prayer
Father, Lord of heaven and earth, give me the humility of the little ones who receive your mysteries with trust. Open my eyes to your presence in the holy ground of ordinary life, and keep me mindful of your mercy, which forgives, heals, and redeems. When I feel unworthy or inadequate, remind me that you are with me. Make me attentive to the cries of those who suffer, and willing to follow where you send me. Through Jesus, reveal your heart more deeply and teach me to serve without seeking recognition. Amen.
