6 Now this I say: He who soweth sparingly, shall also reap sparingly: and he who soweth in blessings, shall also reap blessings.

7 Every one as he hath determined in his heart, not with sadness, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.

8 And God is able to make all grace abound in you; that ye always, having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work,

9 As it is written: He hath dispersed abroad, he hath given to the poor: his justice remaineth for ever.

10 And he that ministereth seed to the sower, will both give you bread to eat, and will multiply your seed, and increase the growth of the fruits of your justice:

8 His heart is strengthened, he shall not be moved until he look over his enemies.

24 Amen, amen I say to you, unless the grain of wheat falling into the ground die,

25 Itself remaineth alone. But if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit. He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world, keepeth it unto life eternal.

26 If any man minister to me, let him follow me; and where I am, there also shall my minister be. If any man minister to me, him will my Father honour.

God’s generosity is meant to become visible through the lives of his people. The one who sows generously does not give with sadness or compulsion, because grace has already made him sufficient for every good work. The psalm portrays this person as gracious, merciful, and ready to lend to those in need. His generosity is not weakness; it gives his heart stability and strengthens his hope in the Lord.

Jesus reveals the deepest source of such freedom: the grain of wheat must fall into the earth and die in order to bear much fruit. Following Christ means allowing our self-protective grasp on life to be surrendered into the Father’s hands. This may be expressed through sharing possessions, serving another person, offering forgiveness, or accepting the hidden sacrifice required by love. Nothing given to Christ is wasted. As we place ourselves at his service, he brings forth fruit beyond what we can see. The path of self-giving can seem like a loss, yet it leads into the light of life and receives the Father’s honor.

Lord Jesus, teach me to follow you with a generous heart. Free me from the fear that makes me cling to my time, possessions, comfort, or plans. Give me joy in serving, wisdom to recognize those in need, and courage to offer what I can without seeking praise. When love requires sacrifice, help me trust that no gift placed in your hands is lost. Let your grace bear fruit through my ordinary acts of mercy, and keep my heart firmly anchored in hope. May my life reflect your light and lead others toward the Father. Amen.
